Searching the Earth for Art – Google Earth Blog
We’ve seen sites in the past that collect various placemarks to view in Google Earth, giving you quick access to interesting sites around the world. Searthing.com is similar to some of those, but with a focus specifically on artistic-looking imagery. Searthing was created by Mack Lazarus and Tim Schmauch, who are behind the similar EarthArtWorld.com site. The two sites both focus on artistic-looking imagery, but Searthing is designed in a blog format to show off much more of it. The images are stunning…most of which I hadn’t seen before. Check out more at Searthing.com. Nice work! Posted by mickmel at October 4, 2011 7:49 AM

SEARTHING – THE EARTH AS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN!
Written by Maximiliano Puccio • Category: Web 2.0
The images of Earth as seen through the eyes of the satellites are really fascinating! Many of these pictures are in fact an aspect of art and some of them seem to be masterpieces of modern art . The site Searthing.com created by Mack Lazarus and Tim Schmauch (those behind the scenes of EarthArtWorld.com have tried to gather the most evocative images of our planet , but this time takes the form of a blog open to user contributions. To make it even more interesting a lot of pictures among which are: New Ruins , Sea Cliffs , Mystic Eye are fully navigable using the plug-in for Google Earth . All in all an interesting project that far exceeds those already active on the web for some time as Earth Art and Art Google Maps because it best embodies the spirit of Web 2.0 .

Searthing: Serious Earth Art - DigGeog
I can’t remember the original source of the Earth Art idea, and I suspect several people would claim the honour (though NASA is in pole position) but Searthing offers some pretty spectacular examples and the chance to contribute to the site. A few years ago I was enthusiastic about getting learners to find interesting angles in Google Earth, adding a suitable caption using Big Huge Labs’ Motivator tool. Who can forget the classic “Cabbage of Jub”?

Searthing – searching the earth for art. Not man-made – but, geographical art.
They have video clips posted for using Google Earth and Maps to “searth”. You can turn this into a motivational way for students to explore their world.
